The core area exemption program will end on December 31, 2009. In addition, individuals applying for building permits have a few months remaining to take advantage of the 2009 development rates, before the new January 1, 2010 rates come into effect.

Fire Service Agreements
Last month, there was a tragic fire in Wilmot Township that resulted in the deaths of two people. Under the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, every municipality determines the fire services that are necessary to meet its needs and circumstances. In Ontario, there are three types of agreements that fire departments can enter into to provide assistance to each other when needed. They are mutual aid, automatic aid, and fire protection agreements.

Waterloo's statistical profiles have been updated
The profiles contain planning district as well as city wide statistical data. Data for a number of variables such as population, income, labour force, housing and development activity, and immigration are available.
