City Council is the level of government closest to its citizens and provides the most accessible forum for citizens to communicate with their elected officials.

Council/Committee meetings are normally held on Mondays on a three week rotation:

Week 1     Committee of the Whole Meeting
Week 2     Finance and Strategic Planning Committee Meeting
Week 3     Council Meeting

The Committee of the Whole meetings are less formal than Council meetings and are chaired on a rotating basis by Members of Council other than the Mayor and Chair of the Finance and Strategic Planning Committee.  Delegations are encouraged to appear at either forum. 

Finance and Strategic Planning Committee meetings focus on issues related to budget and financial matters, major projects and purchases, purchase/sale of land, strategic and financial planning and governance matters. 

Meetings are open to the public and take place in the Council Chambers, 3rd Floor, Waterloo City Centre, 100 Regina Street South, Waterloo (Directions to Waterloo City Hall).
