Mandate of the Waterloo Municipal Heritage Committee
 
  • To evaluate properties in Waterloo with respect to their architectural and historical significance using an established criteria for evaluation.
  • To prepare and maintain a list of properties deemed worthy of preservation.
  • To advise and assist Council on the means of preserving historic properties.
  • To advise Council on available legislation that affects historic properties.
  • To advise Council on matters involving conservation and preservation of both public and private built and natural resources persuant to the Ontario Heritage Act.
  • To implement programs of public education concerning the preservation of Waterloo's heritage and architecture.
  • To advise Council on matters referred to the Committee by Council.
