Brothers Arthur and Gordon McEllistrum made this jointer, and worked side-by-side as coopers in the distillery during the 1940s. At that time, a cooper was responsible for purchasing his own tools. Some specialized tools, such as the jointer for joining staves, were not available on the market and had to be hand-made by the cooper.
