Labelling the Bottles

V.O. Ribbon. The black and gold ribbon was added to the "V.O." bottle in 1940.

"Until automation came in, ... the labels and stamps and seals were all done by machine, well, they were put through machines to put the glue on ... [The girls] would put the glue on a big board, with a brush ... and as [they] needed them they'd take this board and take the stamps and all, and that would leave a lot of this paste on the bottles. So the girls had a dish of water beside them and cloths and they'd wash the bottles down, dry them and go on further to the packing."
