About green burials at Parkview
Download a map of Parkview Cemetery (PDF) to find the location of the green burial section.
Green burials are a natural means of caring for the deceased with lower environmental impact.
Criteria for a green burial include:
- No embalming - human remains must be prepared without polymer implants or other non-natural elements.
- Direct earth burial - remains can be placed into a casket or alternative container so long as it is composed of biodegradable materials.
- Grave liners or protective vaults are not permitted.
Once a burial has been completed each grave is replenished with the same soils that were removed. A new cover of native wildflower seed mix is then spread over the burial site.
No formal maintenance is performed in the green burial section other than periodic removal of invasive plant species.
Green burial lots
Green burial lots can accommodate 1 traditional burial and/or up to 4 cremations.
